Master Toshio Kuramoto
Rest In Peace June 15, 1948 - May 24, 2007
Master Toshio Kuramoto was a devoted student of the late Rev. Doshin So who was the founder of Shorinji Kempo. Kuramoto was the founder of the Shorinji Kempo of Hollywood Dojo and Industry Sheriff's Dojo in Hacienda Heights, CA.
He held a Junhanshi 7th dan black belt of Shorinji Kempo Zen Martial Arts and practiced it for over 35 years. He was an ordained priest, Gonchudoshi, of the Kongo-Zen Sohonzan Shorinji Temple in Shikoku, Japan. Master Kuramoto won 5th place in Embu among 5000 participants from 19 countries at the 1997 World Shorinji Kempo Tournament held in front of an audience of over 30,000 people at the Japan Martial Arts Hall in Tokyo.
He appeared often on TV, in films, print media and commercials and was also a well-known Zen Acu-Therapist. He had a vision of developing the dojo in the new millennium; being deeply devoted to promoting his dojo and Shorinji Kempo in the United States!
Discipline, Respect, Compassion, Self-Esteem, Confidence, Focus, Concentration, Improved Health, Mental and Spiritual Development and Self Defense are all important and positive aspects of the teachings of Master Toshio Kuramoto's dojo. Kuramoto-sensei has dedicated his life to the practice and teachings of Shorinji Kempo and to making a positive and wholesome difference in our youth and our society.
